Meet Tessa | Trauma Therapist in New York
Mental Health Counselor-Limited Permit
Helping adults understand how the past shapes their present and supporting them in creating a future with more peace, clarity, and self-trust.
Your trauma isn’t “too old” to matter. It’s still living in how you show up today.
If you find yourself overthinking every move, putting everyone else’s needs ahead of your own, or constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop.. your nervous system might still be protecting you from things you’ve long survived.
Many of my clients have spent years minimizing their childhood trauma or confusing survival mechanisms for personality traits like being “too sensitive,” “too controlling,” or “too much.”
I help adults process how past trauma has shaped their roles, relationships, and emotional world and begin healing from the inside out.
Who I Work With
I support adults who are ready to untangle the connection between their past and their present. You might be:
- Noticing that your childhood wounds still affect how you show up at work, in relationships, or with yourself
- Feeling anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, or “stuck” in patterns you can’t explain
- Struggling to name or express your needs without guilt
- Wanting to reclaim your story instead of letting it keep defining you
If this sounds like you, you're not alone and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.
How I Help
Our work together will be a balance of practical tools and emotional processing. I’ll meet you where you are and walk with you as you move forward.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-We’ll challenge the unhelpful thought patterns keeping you stuck and develop healthier ways to respond to triggers so you feel more grounded.
Person-Centered Therapy-You’re not “broken.” You’re human. I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you’re free to explore who you are without shame.
Trauma-Informed- Together, we’ll build real-life strategies to reduce distress, regulate your nervous system, and gently unlearn the belief that you have to carry this alone.
A Little About Me
I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and an Advanced Certificate in Interdisciplinary Trauma Studies from SUNY Oswego, plus a Bachelor’s in Psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh.
I’ve worked with diverse individuals across cultural and identity backgrounds, helping each client reconnect with their strengths and redefine their relationship with the past.
Let's Start Your Healing Story
You don’t have to prove your pain to get support.
If you’re ready to understand what you’ve been through and start feeling like yourself again I’d be honored to walk that path with you.
