The Importance of Self-care
Self-care is defined as an individual taking time to engage in activities that provide them with opportunities to live well, as well as to improve their physical and mental health.
What’s the Benefit of Self-care?
Self-care can help manage stress, lower risk of illness, and increase your energy. Self-care methods vary from individual-to-individual. If you were to be asked what self-care methods you enjoy, a good place to begin with this consideration would be to simply think of some activities that bring you happiness. These methods could consist of, but are not limited to, utilizing a hair care or skincare routine, watching a movie or television show, reading a book, shopping, exercising, and/or being in nature.
Love to Workout?
Does exercise appeal to you? If so, exercising for 30 minutes a day can boost your mood and improve your mental health. Don’t feel as though you need to commit to 30 minutes a day, as you can do what feels good for you! You can begin exercising for any amount of time that feels good to you, and increase up to 30 minutes at your own rate.
Are you not sure what activities you would enjoy? If so, you can take a look at various self care tags on TikTok (I.e.: “self care routine,” “self care” for men or women, etc.). If social media doesn’t appeal to you, you can Google those same searches, and you will be provided with many resources.
